Nozipho January-Bardill has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, where she has served with distinction and has recently been appointed as Chief of Staff to the Head of UN Women in New York. Mrs. January-Bardill serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the boards of AngloGold Ashanti, Credit Suisse Securities Johannesburg, the State Information and Technology Agency of SA and the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority in SA that she chairs. She also serves as trustee on the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Trust, and the Anglo Platinum Lefa la Rona Trust.

Mrs. January-Bardill is a member of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and serves as a volunteer on the Fund Raising Committee of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital Trust.

BA English and Philosophy;

Certificate in Education (University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, 1973);

Masters in Applied Linguistics (University of Essex, UK, 1984)

Diploma in Human Resource Management (Damelin South Africa, 1995);

Several short courses in Gender and Race Equality, Counselling, Neuro Linguistics Programming and Management Development.

Her past appointments, include:- Corporate Affairs Executive at MTN Group, South Africa’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Lichtenstein and the Holy See, Deputy Director General, Human Capital Management at the National Department of Foreign Affairs (now DIRCO), Chief Director/Adviser to the Speaker of the South African Parliament, Director of World University Service SA and, until very recently, Chair of the Swiss South African Cooperation Initiative (SSACI).
