Bola Tinubu

Bola is a Partner in the law firm of Olajide Oyewole LLP (A member of DLA Piper Africa) and leads its Corporate Practice. She has a professional background of over 25 years’ experience in advising businesses throughout their life cycles and supporting them in achieving their corporate objectives with her transactional and governance expertise.

While providing general corporate representation with a special interest in business re-organisations and corporate governance, Bola now focuses on providing professional Board Advisory Services as a Trusted Board Advisor to various established and emerging businesses. Her advice is widely sought in the establishment, development, and expansion of businesses; board performance, training, and evaluation matters; as well as their day-to-day operations and corporate crises.  She is a Sustainability Leader and assists boards to understand their role in addressing ESG risks and opportunities.

Bola is driven to enable boards to be fit for the future and is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Tri-Sector Chairperson, leading boards across all three private, public, and development sectors. 

She is an ardent advocate for diversity on boards and the acceleration of women to Boards, especially in Africa. She is the Chair of The Boardroom Africa a pan-African organisation which amplifies the potential of Africa’s exceptional female leaders.

Bola is a leader in the fight against child sexual abuse in Nigeria and is a passionate advocate of children’s rights and their access to justice. Bola is the Founder of The Cece Yara Foundation, an award-winning non-profit organization, which established Nigeria’s first free Child Helpline and first Child Advocacy Centres, providing free legal, medical, and psycho-social services for Nigerian children who have been sexually abused. She is also the Chairperson of the Governing Council of The Lagos State Office of the Public Defender – a public institution that provides free legal aid to the poor.

Bola’s advocacy for child rights has  also led her to become a publish author of children’s books.

She is the only Nigerian to be awarded the status of Chartered Director, and She has been certified as a Corporate Director by The Harvard Business School. She is a Chartered Governance Professional and a Chartered Company Secretary. She also a Fellow of The Chartered Governance Institute, U.K., The Institute of Directors, U.K. and The Institute of Directors, Nigeria, and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria.

The BBC named Bola in its 2018 list of 100 inspiring and influential women around the world, for her pioneering volunteer work with children in Nigeria.
