Toki Mabogunje

Toki Mabogunje is the Vice Chair Africa at ICC World Chamber Federation. She was the immediate past President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is a business consultant interested in the growth and management of small and medium enterprises on the African continent.

Toki Mabogunje has a degree in Law from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Nigeria, a postgraduate law degree (LLM) in International Business Law from the University of Exeter, England, Executive Management Training in Strategic Organization and Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, California, United States of America, training in SME Policy Design and Project Implementation from the ILO Training Center in Turin, Italy, Value Chain Development Training from MDF in the Netherlands, Enterprise Development through value chains and business service markets from the ILO International Training Center, Turin, Italy and several other workshops and seminars all related to the growth and development of SMEs.

Over the last 37 years, Toki has worked in the public and the private sector. She began her career in the public service, working with the Federal Ministry of Justice as a State Counsel. She resigned as Senior State Counsel to work as Group Head Legal and Corporate Affairs for a start-up broadcast enterprise known as Minaj Media Group, which grew into a global business concern. Toki was part of a dynamic management team that grew this local broadcaster into a satellite television operation. Her management expertise and skills earned her the position of CEO of the American subsidiary of the Group. In the year 2000, Toki founded the firm Toki Mabogunje and Co. (TMC) and over the last 20 years brings her skills, training, expertise and experience to bear when consulting with clients seeking to grow their market share in Nigeria, Africa or elsewhere globally.

Toki is active in business organizations of the organized private sector (OPS) in Nigeria. She is President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is the 3rd woman in 131 years to be elected to that position; Chairperson Shelter Origins (an affordable housing NGO); Board Member Convention on Business Integrity; Board member Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria, Board Member Negotiation & Conflict Management Group; Board Member Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA); Trustee National Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (NANTAP); Advisory Board Member WISCAR; amongst others. Internationally she is a Council Member of the World Chambers Federation of the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC). Toki also serves as Patron to The Business Fellowship of Our Saviours Church TBS Lagos and is a Trustee of her alma mater Holy Child College, Lagos.

In her spare time, she expresses her creativity by writing poetry. She has contributed to a number of poetries. In recognition of her support of the arts, the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (NANTAP) awarded her the WTD (World Theatre Day) Personality of the year and Cultural Ambassador 2014.

Toki loves impacting positively on society and the communities she serves. In recognition of her contributions, various associations have bestowed Toki with various awards. Amongst these have been the outstanding volunteer of the year award by Fate Foundation in 2003, award by Volunteer corps in 2008, the outstanding mentor of the year award by Idea Builders in 2009, an Achievement award by the Ghana Association of Women Entrepreneurs (GAWE) in 2009 for shattering the glass ceiling, the longstanding volunteer award for 10 years of dedicated service in 2010 by Fate Foundation, 7th Anniversary Award from Support Bridges Initiative 2012, Honorary award for High Impact 4 Creative Kids, Children’s day 27th May 2013 and Special Appreciation Award by Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria 2013. She mentors young entrepreneurs and has done so with Women in Successful Careers (WISCAR), IDEA BUILDERS, FATE FOUNDATION, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), YOUWIN and WIMBIZ.

Toki is married to Engr. Seun Mabogunje and they have 2 grown sons.
